Heru was the princess of Seth and daughter of the Jeddak Hath. She eventually wed Mors Kajak although he was not her first love.
History[]
Not much is known about her history but when Gullivar arrived on Barsoom he arrived just in time to save the princess from drowning. A feast was held in his honor, but evidently the feast was drugged and the participants incapacitated. During this Heru was abducted by the Thither.
Eventually she would wed Mors Kajak and become the mother of Dejah Thoris. She was poisoned by agents of Yorn and this escalated conflicts between lesser and greater Helium, Mors Kajak blaming greater helium for his wife's death.
Background[]
Heru is from Edwin Lester Linden Arnold's "Lieutenant Gullivar Jones: His Vacation" (more commonly known as Gulliver of Mars). This book predates Burroughs' martian series, but never achieved nearly the same popularity.
