Sarka bribed his way into an American military experiment that teleported him to Mars 216, also known as "Barsoom". On the, he infiltrated the native society and took for himself the name "Sab Than", so that he became Dejah Thoris' personal guard. Eventually he attempted to destroy all life on Barsoom by shutting down the atmosphere plant.
