Shanti was a young woman, sister of Anouk, 100,000 years before John Carter's arrival on Barsoom. She was a member of the Helium Tribe, who grew ill with fever.
When her family attempted to seek medical aid in the city of Korad, the Orovar doctors repeatedly refused to aid her and she unfortunately died. This is part of the reason her sister Anouk resented the Orovar so much.
