After its learned the man escaped John Carter and Tars Tarkas they investigate the atmosphere factory, which has been inhabited by the fearsome White Apes. The two men fight for for their lives, and soon a Helimitic airship arrives, carrying Dejah Thoris with it. When the ship crashed, Dejah Thoris is seized by one of the apes, John Carter furious at this, uses all his strength to kill the ape with one punch.
